Corporate Social Responsibility

At Saunders we don’t just build projects — we build leaders and communities with a commitment to sustainable business practices. From long-term strategic trajectories to day-to-day operations, we continually align these practices with accountable economic, environmental and social goals. To this end, we have produced a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report every year since 2010, which includes our commitment to provide world-class employee training, supporting over 80 community non-profit organizations, and engaging small, minority and women-owned businesses as both project partners and as mentors. Saunders continues to implement long-term strategies toward employing a zero waste stream process, significantly reducing our water use and carbon output.

  • This kind of transparency from a privately held company is very impressive and progressive. I like that the report didn’t try to hide failures or missed goals–it simply stated your intention, your efforts and the outcomes. I will be using this as a best practice for other companies to follow in the future.

Building Confidence in Kids

Building Confidence in Kids® (BCiK) is an employee-led philanthropic initiative focused on the support, well-being and development of children. Designed to complement Saunders’ traditional philanthropic giving, the program creates an employee outlet for volunteerism and community impact. Every year, BCiK forms a partnership with one nonprofit organization, while actively maintaining past nonprofit relationships, to provide financial and in-kind donations, as well as volunteer contributions. HopeKids provides ongoing events and activities for families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition, such as cancer. Each month, the organization schedules a variety of sporting events, live performances, museum visits, or other types of fun activities for the whole family. HopeKids strives to keep kids focused on the future, rather than dwelling on health complications faced in the present. All events are focused on the whole family to prevent siblings from being unintentionally overlooked during these tough times and are offered at no cost.

Kenzi’s Causes was founded by Jessica Bachus after her daughter, Kenzi, was stillborn at 24 weeks. Overcome with grief, Jessica felt compelled to channel her emotions into something that would honor Kenzi’s memory. With this deep and noble calling, Kenzi’s Causes, formally known as Dolls for Daughters and Kenzi’s Kids, was born. Jessica and her family began providing dolls to children during the holiday season who would otherwise go without. It was in her own grief that she stabilized the hearts of others. Over a decade later, Jessica’s heartbreak led to a breakthrough that would change the trajectory of struggling families in the Colorado area forever.
